Guadalupe, as I have decided to call her, takes the prize for the MOST names given to one of the siblings at birth.  It was common for girls to be named, “Maria” and for the boys to be named, “Jose” .  This was in respect to Mary and Joseph the parents of Jesus.

However, they almost NEVER used those names in their everyday life.   So maybe her parents called her Felicitas or Candida, but I am referring to her as Guadalupe.

Guadalupe was Rafael’s twin sister.  Some of the family from the Rafael line had heard through the years that Rafael had a twin sister who had died.  But they mentioned the name Luz to me as his possible twin, not Guadalupe.  I couldn’t see by any records that I had researched that Luz was Rafael’s twin.

Years go by and I come upon this baptismal record for Rafael AND Guadalupe.  I live for records which bear out the family lore or suspicion of something that has come down in the family by word of mouth through many years.  This absolutely proves that Rafael and Guadalupe were twins.

I haven’t located any other record than this one so we do not know what became of Guadalupe.  Family lore probably has it correct that she died young, but we do not know under what circumstances she died or what her actual age was.
